Here at Hoovers Farm, strawberries and summer go hand-in-hand. We have four acres dedicated to our strawberry fields, where we plant, nurture, and harvest our berries.

One of the best things about our farm is an acre of strawberries reserved for you to pick your own. This is a fun and rewarding experiences for the whole family, as you can enjoy the fresh air, the beautiful scenery, and the sweet smell of strawberries. You can pick as many strawberries as you want, and pay by the pound. We provide baskets and containers for your convenience.

We have eight to ten varieties of strawberries, each with its own unique flavor, texture, and season. Here are some of our favorite varieties.

  • Early Grow: These are small to medium-sized berries that have a bright red color and a sweet flavor. They are one of the earliest varieties to ripen and are great for making jams and pies.
  • Galleta: These are large and firm berries with a dark red color and a tangy flavor. They are resistant to diseases and pests and are good for freezing and canning.
  • AC Wendy: These are medium-sized berries with a glossy red color and a juicy texture. They have a balanced flavor of sweetness and acidity and are excellent for eating fresh or making salads.
  • Jewel: These are large and conical berries that have a deep red color and smooth skin. They have a high sugar content and a rich flavor and are ideal for making desserts and sauces.
  • Flavor Fest: These are medium to large berries that have a bright red color and a firm flesh. They have a very sweet flavor and a long shelf life and are perfect for snacking or baking.

We harvest strawberries from late May to early July, depending on the weather and the variety. We always make sure to pick them at their peak ripeness, so that they are fresh and delicious.

If you love strawberries as much as we do, you should definitely visit us and try some of our fresh and mouthwatering berries. Picking your own berries at our scenic farm out in the country provides a great opportunity to get away from the normal hustle of life and enjoy some time in God’s creation.

See you soon!
